The Nipissing Naturalists Club are a diverse and friendly group who gather regularly for the enjoyment of nature and to learn about the natural world.
In addition to monthly meetings with engaging guest speakers, we host outings and events in and around North Bay and the Nipissing District throughout the year. We have an active group of birders - known as Bird Wing - who also host regular meetings and outings.
In December 2015, the Club received approval to have an Ontario Heritage Trust plaque installed in Louise de Kiriline Lawrence's name at Pimisi Bay, next door to the log cabin where she made her home for decades prior to her death in 1992. The Nipissing Naturalists have been working to help bring recognition to Louise as an internationally renowned naturalist, author, and nurse. The plaque was unveiled on August 18, 2016, and can now be found at Pimisi Bay.
Every August since 2014, the Nipissing Naturalists Club has hosted the annual Louise de Kiriline Lawrence Nature Festival. Local event hosts share the love and knowledge of nature by people that live, work and study the environment - just like Louise de Kiriline Lawrence.
